MediumAbout to spend my next seven months visiting at least fourteen destinations on five continents. Join me!
A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about wanting to experience and travel more.
Well, seems like someone read it and now I’m going on an around the world trip! Visiting places such as Colombia, Singapore, Florida, Australia, Japan, China, India, Canada and Costa Rica.
However, it’s not (only) going to be a long deserved holiday. It’s rather a piece of something much bigger…
Enter Robotex 2017!
Almost 40 days ago, I got an offer that was too hard to resist.
Apparently, Estonia has been organising one robotics competition since 2001. One that has somehow become the biggest robotics competition in Europe. At least in terms of robots brought to this event. All via organic growth.
But it’s not the biggest in the world yet!
There’s one in the US that hosted 1047 robots earlier this year. Gaining a Guinness World Record.
Meanwhile, Robotex was able to attract almost 1000 robots to its last event. With only 23% of the participants being international.
This means there’s a really strong chance of becoming the biggest robotics and automation event in the world.
If only the event could double its international audience…
That’s where I come in!
So far, the event organisers of Robotex have done almost no international marketing. Other than showing our skill at various events across the world. And this has been enough to generate an international audience.
But we know there’s a lot more international competitors, and companies that want to show their technology to the world. They’re already going to events on all continents. And would love to go to many more…
Our premise is that they simply need to hear more about Robotex. Meet the people behind it. In the end wanting to be a part of the biggest robotics event in the world.
Thus, I’m going to meet them at all the events they’re already visiting. Sitting down with various heads of robotics clubs. Having a beer with executives of top robotics companies. And simply having a chat with all kinds of robot builders. From all ages and countries.
First up, RoboRAVE International in Colombia!
So keep an eye on my Instagram and Snapchat if you’re interested to experience more of it!
Also, let me know if you’re somehow involved with robotics or know people that are. Every contact is appreciated!
As it might lead us nearer to the goal of making Estonia famous for hosting the biggest robotics and automation competition in the world AKA Robotex 2017.
