Brickanta: tender preparation can accelerate without becoming an autonomous offer

A construction tender can combine drawings, specifications, contracts, historic estimates and legal requirements owned by different specialists.

What Brickanta does

Brickanta is a Stockholm construction-technology company founded in 2025 and launched through Y Combinator. Its platform includes AI Documents, Repackaging, Knowledge Base, Construction Law and Quality Assurance. The stated workflow reads drawings, specifications, contracts and related project documents, identifies gaps, risks and opportunities, and links findings to source sentences. Repackaging turns a raw request for proposal (RFP) into trade-specific procurement packages, while the Knowledge Base carries pricing, deviations and decisions from completed projects. 1 6

An October 2026 release describes a concrete operating model. A user connects a SharePoint or Dropbox folder; Brickanta starts reading and initiating workflows before a team member opens the project. It classifies the project, combines interacting clauses, checks whether public-procurement rules apply and shows the documents and rules behind each finding. Outdated or cancelled material is excluded. A human can save, edit, dismiss or set aside findings, while the record tracks requirements, revisions, deadlines, decisions, approver and reasons for declining a bid. Consequential actions are presented to the user and can be adjusted or undone. 7

What the reported results do—and do not—show

Brickanta’s January 2026 seed announcement says category-specific RFP bundles can be generated in as little as 15 minutes, compared with days previously. It also reports hundreds of users across 11 countries and four continents. These are provider-reported process and adoption claims: no sample, baseline method, active-user definition, retention or independent audit is disclosed. Independent coverage corroborates the $8 million seed round and Northzone as lead investor, but funding is not evidence of accuracy or return on investment. 2 3 4

Named Swedish cases include H2, a residential builder; Elschakt, an installation and excavation contractor; and Spentab, a sports-surface and groundwork company. Brickanta’s H2 page describes around 120 employees, 18 active projects and about 3,000 apartments under construction, while its founder says the company could eventually “essentially double” capacity per employee. Elschakt’s CEO says the firm can estimate twice as many jobs and win twice as many contracts. These are customer expectations or vendor-hosted testimonials, not measured before-and-after outcomes: no period, denominator, control group, margin result or independent corroboration is disclosed. 5 8 9 10

Preparation is not commercial authority

The evidence supports document interpretation, risk triage, quantity extraction, package generation and decision support. It does not establish independent validation of every take-off against authoritative drawings, supplier selection, purchase-order creation or a binding price. Estimators and project managers can review source-linked findings and draft subcontractor requests; named technical, legal and commercial owners still need to approve quantities, deviations, contract meaning, bid submission and supplier commitments. Brickanta’s AG Advokat partnership makes the legal boundary explicit: AI may identify risks, but specialist human advice is required for legal meaning and handling. 14

An illustrative pilot for a Nordic contractor

This is an illustrative application, not a reported deployment. A Nordic subcontractor could start with current and completed tenders, drawings, specifications, contract clauses, estimates, templates, standards, decisions and permissions. Require every extracted quantity or risk to retain its source document and revision. Compare findings with estimator ground truth: critical-clause recall, wrong-revision rate, quantity discrepancies, review minutes, clarification loops and package time.

Keep output as a reviewed draft until the team verifies units, materials, tolerances, prices and supplier quotes. Test stale price lists, superseded drawings, mixed units, permission leakage, duplicate actions and malicious instructions embedded in documents. For public procurement or contract claims, route conclusions to the appropriate specialist. A measured reduction in preparation time would be useful; it would still not prove margin improvement or permission to place an order.

Evolution, access and cost

Brickanta expanded from European estimation and project-document analysis into procurement, construction law and quality assurance. It acquired Praxiom AI and its database of more than 300 construction-law court rulings in May 2026, then acquihired Alysa, an AI tendering startup, in August. No failed or discontinued feature was publicly documented. 11 12

Public pages name SharePoint, Dropbox and, in launch material, OneDrive, Outlook and Teams, but do not publish an API specification, export schema or complete connector list. Pricing gives no currency or seat, project, period or usage unit. It describes unlimited AI use, implementation expertise, training, integrations and direct product influence, so a buyer should obtain written limits, retention, support, data-processing, migration and exit terms. Security claims including encryption, GDPR compliance, EU AI Act compliance and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification require documentary verification. 1 6 15
